I am a research technician at the Salk Institute in Bart Sefton's lab. One focus of the lab is the role of protein tyrosine kinases in the regulation of signal transduction. I have been working to identify substrates of protein tyrosine kinases in activated lymphocytes. The approach I have taken is to make monoclonal antibodies to isolate, identify, and characterize proteins that are phosphorylated on tyrosine during lymphocyte activation. This approach led to the identification of CD22 as a substrate for protein tyrosine kinase(s) during B-cell activation. I have also identified VCP and the large subunit of RNA polymersase II as substates for protein tyrosine kinases, although they do not appear to be involved in lymphocyte activation. |
